Tear Trough Filler in Leeds: The Fix for Tired Under-Eyes
By Sasha, Founder & Head Practitioner, Ministry of Faces, Leeds · August 2026 · 6 min read
You slept for eight hours. You drank the water. You still opened the camera on your phone and thought, who on earth is that.
The under-eye gives you away before anything else. Skin there is the thinnest on your face, volume drains out of it early, and once a shadow settles into that trench between lid and cheek, concealer stops helping. It creases into the hollow by lunchtime.
Tear trough filler corrects it properly. Done well, it is the most flattering thing we do at Ministry of Faces. People stop asking whether you are tired and start asking whether you have been away somewhere.
Done badly, it is also the treatment most likely to look wrong. This is an area where taste beats product, and a fraction of a millilitre in the wrong plane is puffy rather than rested. It is also completely reversible.
The goal is never a filled under-eye. It is an under-eye you stop noticing, on a face that finally looks like it has slept.
WHAT IT TREATS
Why your under-eyes look tired when you are not

Three separate things create that exhausted look, and each needs a different answer. Getting this wrong is why so much under-eye work disappoints.
The first is a true hollow. The orbital rim loses its cushion of fat, the skin drops into the gap, and light falls into the dip and throws a grey shadow across it.
The second is skin quality. Thin, crepey skin scatters light badly and holds pigment. That is not a volume problem and filler will not touch it. Polynucleotides and eye boosters like Lumi Eyes are what that skin responds to.
The third is a flat mid-face. When the cheek loses lift, the under-eye lengthens and the shadow grows even where the trough is fine. Plenty of people who ask for under-eye filler leave with cheek filler instead, and look considerably better for it.
Working out which you have is the whole job, and that happens at your free consultation.
THE TREATMENT
What tear trough filler in Leeds actually involves
A soft, low-water hyaluronic acid gel is placed deep along the orbital rim, sitting on bone under the muscle. It rebuilds the ledge of support that used to be there. The skin lifts off the hollow, the shadow has nowhere to fall, and the step from lid into cheek goes smooth.
Product choice matters more here than anywhere on the face. Under-eye skin shows texture straight through it, and a filler that draws in too much water looks swollen a fortnight later. We use a firm, low-hydrophilic filler placed through a blunt cannula from one entry point each side.
Numbing cream first. Around twenty minutes in the chair. Most people go straight back to work and nobody in the office says a word.
One treatment usually does it. Occasionally we bring you back at two weeks to add a touch more, because adding is easy and sitting with too much is not.
Treated in one appointment, back at your desk the same afternoon. Book a free consultation and we will tell you honestly whether filler is the right answer.
If anyone offers to fill your under-eyes without looking properly at your cheeks first, put your coat back on.
WHAT IT IS BRILLIANT FOR
What under-eye filler is brilliant for
Hollow, sunken under-eyes. The classic reason people book tear trough filler, and the thing it does better than anything short of surgery.
Shadows that concealer makes worse. Fill the trench and makeup sits flat instead of gathering in a crease.
Looking permanently exhausted in photographs. Overhead light is brutal on a hollow under-eye. This is the fix.
A visible step from lid to cheek. Softening that ledge changes your profile, and it pairs beautifully with cheek filler.
Early ageing in your thirties and forties. With anti-wrinkle injections, or lighter baby dosing around the eyes, it takes years off without changing your face.
Faces that have had everything else done. If lips, cheeks and jaw are handled and you still look tired, this is the missing piece. Our dermal filler packages are built for that kind of plan.
RESULTS
Your results timeline, honestly
Under-eyes settle more slowly than lips, and anyone telling you otherwise has not treated many.
When | What you will see |
|---|---|
Straight after | The hollow is visibly shallower. Slight fullness and a small mark at each entry point. |
24 to 72 hours | Mild swelling peaks, then eases. The stage people worry about, and the fastest to change. |
Day 4 to 7 | Any bruising fades or covers easily. The area looks like your face again, just brighter. |
Week 2 | The true result. Filler integrated, swelling gone, shadows softened. We review you here. |
3 to 6 months | Settled and natural, no maintenance needed. |
9 to 12 months | Gradual softening. Time for a top-up if you want to hold it. |
COMPARISON
Tear trough filler, Lumi Eyes or skin boosters?
The question we answer most often. These three do different jobs, and plenty of people have two of them.
Tear trough filler | Lumi Eyes | Profhilo and skin boosters | |
|---|---|---|---|
Best for | A real hollow casting a shadow | Thin, crepey skin and dull tone | Overall skin quality and bounce |
What it does | Replaces lost volume on the bone | Repairs and thickens skin from within | Floods skin with hyaluronic acid, stimulates collagen |
Sessions | 1, occasionally 2 | 2 to 3, spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart | 2 to 4, depending on product |
When you see it | Immediately, settled by 2 weeks | From 3 to 4 weeks, peaking near 3 months | 4 to 6 weeks |
How long it holds | 9 to 12 months | 6 to 9 months with maintenance | Around 6 months |

Hollow? Filler wins and nothing comes close. Flat but tissue-thin skin? Start with skin boosters and you will be far happier. Both? We sequence them, boosters first.
YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
What it works best alongside

Support the mid-face with cheek filler and your tear trough result lasts longer, because the filler is not doing all the lifting alone.
Crow's feet are the other pairing. Softening the muscle with anti-wrinkle injections stops fine lines pleating over freshly smoothed skin.
For skin quality we lean on Profhilo or Jalupro, and a course of Illuma Luna polynucleotides where the skin needs repair rather than hydration.
Then the part that makes everything else look better. A hydrofacial before a big event, or a course of luxury facials, does more for how your under-eyes photograph than most people expect. If shadows run into your nasolabial folds, we treat that in the same plan.
Planning several areas? Our dermal filler packages beat booking one by one, and gift cards are there if someone else is doing the asking.
IS IT FOR YOU
Who it suits, and who I say no to

The ideal candidate has a clear hollow, reasonable skin quality and firm lower-lid tissue. If that is you, this is one of the highest-impact treatments in aesthetics.
Some people are better served elsewhere. Puffiness that comes and goes with sleep and salt is fluid, not a hollow. Prominent lower-lid fat pads need a surgical opinion. Very lax skin does better with a booster course first, and sometimes that alone is enough.
Being recognised as Best Aesthetic Practitioner UK did not come from filling every face that walked in. It came from turning a fair number of them away.
Saying no is the most premium thing a clinic can do. It is also why our patients' under-eyes look like under-eyes.
QUESTIONS
Tear trough filler questions we get every week
Does tear trough filler hurt?
Less than people think. Numbing cream goes on first and we use a blunt cannula rather than repeated needle passes, so what you feel is pressure rather than sharpness. If nerves are the thing holding you back, come in for a free consultation with nothing booked.
How long does tear trough filler last?
Typically 9 to 12 months, often longer, because the under-eye moves far less than lips do so the product breaks down slowly. Most of our patients come back once a year for a small top-up. More on the tear trough filler page, or book a review and we will tell you whether you are due.
Will it get rid of my dark circles?
It depends what is causing them. Shadows thrown by a hollow lift dramatically. Pigment sitting in the skin, or fine veins showing through, need a different tool, which is where Lumi Eyes and polynucleotides come in. We can tell which you have in about two minutes at your consultation.
How much swelling will I have, and can I go back to work?
Mild swelling for a day or two, and occasionally a small bruise at the entry point that covers easily with makeup. Most people go back to work the same day. If you have something important coming up, book around two weeks before it.
Can tear trough filler be dissolved?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible, and we offer filler dissolving in Leeds for our own patients and for people unhappy with work done elsewhere. Knowing it can be undone is what makes this an easy decision. Raise it at your consultation and we will talk you through it.
