Does Lumi Eyes Work for Dark Circles?
By Sasha, Founder & Head Practitioner, Ministry of Faces, Leeds · November 2026 · 7 min read
Does Lumi Eyes work for dark circles? It works on one of the three kinds and does very little for the other two. Almost nobody puts that on a treatment page, because it loses them two bookings in three.
Lumi Eyes is a polynucleotide, a clear gel made from purified salmon DNA, injected just under the skin across the bone under the eye. It is not a filler. It adds no volume and will not fill a hollow. What it does is thicken thin, papery under eye skin.
So if your darkness is blue and coming from vessels under thin skin, I book it happily. If it is brown pigment, or a shadow in a hollow, I would rather tell you now.
Most of the people asking me about this have already bought three eye creams. I don't think more people have dark circles than used to, they just got tired of being sold a 40ml jar.

THE DIRECT ANSWER
Does Lumi Eyes Work for Dark Circles?

Lumi Eyes works properly on one of the three types of dark circle, the blue vascular kind caused by thin skin. Over three sessions, four weeks apart, it thickens that skin so the vessels show through less. It will not shift brown pigment and it will not fill a hollow.
I have been using it since 2023 and the results I am pleased with are all on the same patient. Thin skin, a blue cast, late thirties or forties, noticed in photographs before the mirror.
The ones who got nothing were the brown pigment group, and early on that was my fault for not looking harder.
WORK OUT YOUR OWN TYPE FIRST
What Type of Dark Circles Do You Have?
You can sort this out at home in a minute, and I would rather you did before booking. Sit by a window in daylight, not under a kitchen downlight.
Stretch it. Pull the skin at the outer corner sideways until it is taut. If the darkness fades it is vascular, and a polynucleotide course is the one to book.
Press it. Press the dark patch for two seconds and let go. Vascular darkness blanches white and floods back. Brown pigment does not budge.
Tilt your chin. Under an overhead light, tip your chin up then down. If the darkness deepens and vanishes when you lie back, it is a hollow, and the fix is tear trough filler from £359.
Check the colour in daylight. Brown or tan is pigment, which is topicals and a medical grade skin peel from £129. Blue or purple is vascular.
Plenty of people have two at once. Mine are vascular on the left and mixed on the right, which I suspect is just how I sleep.
WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN THE SYRINGE
What Is Lumi Eyes and What Is In It?

One millilitre per appointment, 0.5ml per side. Polynucleotide at 2mg per millilitre, chains of about 250 to 350 kilodaltons. No hyaluronic acid at all, which is deliberate, because HA under the eye is what gives some people puffy mornings for a fortnight.
I use a 32 gauge 4mm needle along the orbital rim in a mesh of small blebs. Twenty minutes including numbing cream, which is optional. It stings under the eye and almost nowhere else on the face.
Lumi Eyes is not a filler. It adds no volume and it will not fill a hollow. If a clinic offers you a booster for a hollow, that is a sales process, not an assessment.
THE REAL PROTOCOL, NOT THE SALES ONE
How Many Lumi Eyes Sessions Do You Need?
Three, four weeks apart, then twice a year. I used to do one session and send people off to see how they got on.
I stopped that in 2023. One session alone does almost nothing you can see in a photograph, and it made me look like I was holding the rest back.
What you actually have | What works on it | Sessions | Prices from |
|---|---|---|---|
Blue cast, thin crepey skin | 3, four weeks apart | from £279, course of 3 from £699 | |
A shadow sitting in a hollow | 1, reviewed at 4 weeks | from £359 | |
Brown pigment that will not stretch out | SPF, vitamin C and a medical grade peel | Daily, plus a course of 3 peels | from £129 |
Fine lines, no real darkness | Polyneedling or micro-needling | 3 to 5 | from £89 |
The course of three at £699 is cheaper than three singles, and I say that out loud at the consultation.
HOW LONG IT HOLDS
How Long Does Lumi Eyes Last?
Four to eight months in my chair, and I want to be straight about how soft that number is. The manufacturer's sheet says 6 to 12 months. A clinic page I read last week says six weeks.
I cannot measure collagen in somebody's eyelid and neither can anybody quoting you a figure. What I can measure is when people rebook, and most of mine come back at six months.
I cannot measure collagen in somebody's eyelid and neither can anybody quoting you a figure.
WHAT I WOULD NOT SELL YOU
Which Under Eye Treatments Are Not Worth Your Money?
A single Lumi Eyes session, for a start. And the ninety pound eye cream. The cheap ceramide moisturiser from Boots does the same job on the barrier.
For brown circles the two actives with real support are vitamin C in the morning and a retinoid two or three nights a week, kept away from the lid margin. SPF 50 daily is the one that actually works and the one nobody does.
Caffeine gels work for about four hours. Fine the morning of a wedding, useless as a plan.
I also will not fill a tear trough that is only slightly hollow on somebody with puffy mornings. It goes faintly blue, holds water, and then I am dissolving my own work with hyaluronidase from £209. I have done that more than once.
WHO IT SUITS
Who Should Have Lumi Eyes and Who Should Wait?
Book it for thin crepey under eye skin, a blue cast, fine lines in flash photography, or if you have had filler dissolved and want the skin quality back.
Wait if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an infection or eczema flare on the lids, or if you are allergic to salmon. Wait if you fly in ten days.
A patient of 47 from Guiseley brought in eleven products, four of them actives, two retinoids from different brands she hadn't realised were both retinoids. We binned seven, kept the vitamin C and the SPF, and did three sessions. What she mentioned first was that her concealer stopped creasing.
The consultation is free, always. I will tell you at that appointment if your circles are the pigment kind and you would do better spending forty pounds in Boots than £279 with me.
WHAT WE PAIR IT WITH
What Else Do We Treat Under the Eyes in Leeds?

Most under eye plans here end up being two things. A booster for the skin and filler for the hollow, in that order and never on the same day.
If the lines at the outer corner bother you more than the colour, crow's feet anti-wrinkle injections from £219 do more than anything I can inject under the eye.
For the rest of the face it is usually Profhilo, Seventy Hyal or Jalupro, PRP micro-needling from £329 for texture, or a hydrofacial from £99 if things are just dull. For several areas, our filler packages beat booking piecemeal, and we sell premium gift cards too.
People drive over from Horsforth, Yeadon, Guiseley, Bramhope, Ilkley and Bradford. The year we were named Best Salon a woman told me the train fare to London for this cost more than the treatment. Yorkshire injectors are as good as any, and the parking is free.
MORE QUESTIONS
More Lumi Eyes Questions
How do I know if my dark circles are pigment or vascular?
Does Lumi Eyes work for dark circles like yours? Stretch the skin sideways at the outer corner. If the darkness fades it is vascular and a polynucleotide course is the right call. If it stays put it is pigment, and injectables will not touch it. I check both free, so book in.
Does Lumi Eyes hurt?
It stings for a second or two per point and almost nowhere else on the face does. Numbing cream is there and most people skip it once they have felt the first one. Twenty minutes, papules for a day.
Can you have Lumi Eyes and tear trough filler together?
Yes, but not on the same day and not in that order. I do the booster course first, review at twelve weeks, then decide whether a hollow still needs filler in the tear trough from £359. Come in and I will map out which you need first.
How soon will I see results from Lumi Eyes?
Two to four weeks after the first session for tone, and the change people notice usually lands after the second or third. Nothing happens on the drive home, which catches people out. I photograph in the same light four weeks apart.
Does caffeine eye cream actually reduce dark circles?
For about four hours. Caffeine squeezes the vessels temporarily, so it is worth it the morning of an event and worth nothing as a plan. SPF 50 and vitamin C change pigmented circles over months. For something that holds, look at skin boosters.
