How Long Does Jawline Filler Last?

Almost everyone who books jaw filler has seen the same photograph. Someone's taken it from below, at a table, in bad light, and the line that used to run clean from ear to chin just isn't there any more.

Nothing's gone wrong with you. The bone at the jaw angle recedes, the fat pads that sat high slide forward, and the skin goes with them. The jaw stops being a line and becomes a curve. Then there's the little pocket either side of the chin that wasn't there five years ago, and once you've spotted it you can't unspot it.

Jaw filler puts the line back. Half an hour, and done properly nobody can tell you've had anything done. They just think you look well.

It isn't a women's treatment either. A good chunk of the jaws I do now belong to men, mostly thirties and forties, mostly booked after a bad run of meetings on Teams.

Half the jaws I'm asked to fix already have too much filler in them, not too little.

THE TREATMENT

What does jawline filler actually do?

We use hyaluronic acid, same family of product as chin filler and cheek filler, but a much firmer gel. Along the jaw you want something that holds its shape. It goes deep, right down on the bone at the angle below the ear and along the border where the edge has gone soft. That's the scaffolding, and it's the bit doing the work.

Then something softer goes in nearer the surface to blend it, so the jaw still moves and creases like a jaw when you talk. Skip that step and you get the flat, shelfy lower face that's all over Instagram. I'm asked to take that out more often than I'm asked to put it in.

Half an hour, numbing cream first, mostly cannula rather than needle. You'll see the shape change before you're off the bed. Most people go back to work the same afternoon, and the worst of it is feeling a bit tender when you chew for a day or two.

Jaw, chin and jowls in one visit. I'd rather balance the whole lower face than sharpen one line and leave the rest.

WHAT IT TREATS

What is jawline filler good for?

It's one of the biggest-impact treatments we do. These are the jobs it does best.

  • A jaw angle that's flattened. The corner below the ear usually goes first, and putting it back changes a face more than almost anything else on the menu. That's the whole point of jaw enhancement filler.

  • Early jowls. Support the border properly and the tissue that's slipped forward has something to sit on again. When the lines beside the mouth have gone too, we treat jowls and marionette lines at the same appointment.

  • A jaw that runs straight into the neck. Nine times out of ten that's as much a chin problem as a jaw one, so chin filler goes in the same visit.

  • Men who want a stronger profile. Male jaw enhancement takes more product and sits wider and squarer. Different plan, not the same one with extra millilitres in it.

  • A jaw carrying the weight of flat cheeks. If the mid-face has gone, cheek filler comes first and the jaw second. Get that order wrong and you'll chase your tail for a year.

Consultations are free, always. We'll map your jaw, tell you straight whether filler is the answer, and we won't sell you a syringe you don't need. Book yours here.

RESULTS

How long does jawline filler take to settle?

Filler's instant. The finished result isn't. Here's what actually happens.

When

What you'll see

What to do

Day of treatment

Sharper jaw straight away, a bit firm, a bit swollen.

Head up on an extra pillow. No gym, no wine.

Days 2 to 3

Swelling peaks. It can feel uneven while the gel settles.

Cool compress if you fancy one. Don't massage it.

Week 1

Swelling and tenderness gone. The real shape shows up.

Back to normal. Sauna and hot yoga can wait.

Weeks 2 to 4

Filler's integrated. This is your actual result.

Come in for your review so we can check the balance.

Months 12 to 18

Softens gradually as the gel breaks down.

A top-up, usually 1ml to 2ml, keeps the line.

YOUR TREATMENT PLAN

What jawline filler combines with

Chin and jaw together is the combination I do most, and there's a reason for it. Projecting the chin lengthens the lower third, so exactly the same jaw work reads as sharper. If the lines from nose to mouth have deepened, nasolabial fold filler lifts the whole thing again. Our dermal filler packages exist for this sort of multi-area plan.

But if the skin itself is the problem, filler's the wrong tool and I'll say so. Crepey skin over a beautifully contoured jaw still looks tired. That's what Profhilo and the rest of the skin booster range are for, or polynucleotides if you want real quality change over 3 to 4 months. A careful dose of anti-wrinkle injections into the neck bands takes the downward pull off the jaw border too. Hardly anybody asks for that one and it's a shame.

If you can see where the filler is, whoever put it in was showing off.

COMPARISON

Jawline filler, jaw slimming or skin boosters?

People mix these three up constantly and they do completely different jobs. Pick the wrong one and you'll be let down by a treatment that worked fine.

IS IT FOR YOU

Who it suits, and who I send home

It works best on faces that have lost definition, not tone. If there's clear bone underneath and the skin still has some spring in it, you'll get an excellent result. That's most people from their late twenties into their sixties.

Where I say no is heavy laxity. If the tissue's genuinely loose, filler just adds weight to something already heading south and you'll end up fuller, not sharper. I'd rather tell you that for free than take your money and have you back in six months unhappy. Overfilled lower faces are the most common thing I'm asked to correct with filler dissolving, and every single one started with an injector who couldn't say no.

One more thing. There's a stubborn idea that proper work means a train to London or Manchester. It doesn't. Some of the best injectors in the country are in Yorkshire, and being named Best Aesthetic Practitioner UK from a clinic in Rawdon felt like fair evidence of it.

Never had filler? Start small. I'd much rather see you back at four weeks to add 1ml than have to take a syringe out. Our treatment FAQs are worth five minutes before you book.

QUESTIONS

More jawline filler questions

Does jawline filler actually help jowls?

Yes, early on, and it's one of the most satisfying things we do. Product along the border gives the tissue that's slipped forward something to sit on, so the pocket beside the chin stops catching the light. Further along and we'll add jowl filler and treat the marionette lines at the same appointment. Bring a photo of yourself from a few years back and I'll show you what's actually recoverable.

Most women land between 2ml and 4ml. Most men need 3ml to 5ml, because there's more jaw to cover. I stage it: a conservative first session, a review at four weeks, then more only if it genuinely adds something. That's why our results look like bone and not like product. The jaw enhancement filler page walks you through a first session.

Less than people expect. Numbing cream first, the gels have anaesthetic in them, and most of the jaw's done with a cannula, not a needle. Pressure rather than pain is how people describe it. If you've had chin filler or tear trough filler you already know the feeling. Come in and we'll talk you through it before you commit to anything.

Usually 12 to 18 months, longer than lips or under-eyes, because the firmer gels sitting on bone break down slower and the area barely moves. Your top-up will be smaller and quicker, normally 1ml to 2ml. We'll book the review before you leave, and there's more on how longevity works in our chin filler guide.

Not if it's put in properly. Volume on the angle and the border sharpens the outline, so the face reads narrower and more lifted, not wider. Faces go heavy when product's stacked in the wrong plane or the mid-face has been ignored, which is why I look at your cheeks and your under-eyes at the same appointment. Come in and I'll show you on your own face.
